போதிய வசதிகளின்றிய நிலையில் இயங்கும் 17 பாடசாலைகள்

முல்லைத்தீவு, மாந்தைகிழக்கு பிரதேசத்திலுள்ள 17 இற்கு மேற்பட்ட பாடசாலைகள் போதிய வசதிகளின்றி இயங்கி வருவதாகச் சுட்டிக் காட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது. இப் பிரதேசத்தின் 15 கிராமசேவகர் பிரிவுகளிலுமுள்ள 17 பாடசாலைகள் பாடரீதியான ஆசிரியர் பற்றாக்குறை, ஆசிரியர் விடுதிகள் இல்லாமை, பௌதீக  வளப்பற்றாக்குறை போன்றவற்றுடன் நீண்டகாலமாக இயங்கி வருகிறது.

இதனால் வறிய மாணவர்களின் கல்வி நிலை கேள்விக்குறியாகியுள்ளதாகத் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதுடன் இவ்றறைச் சீர்செய்து பின்தங்கிய பிரதேசத்தின் கல்வி வளர்ச்சிக்கு உதவ வேண்டுமெனப் பலரும் கோரிக்கை விடுத்துள்ளனர்.

Mannar district (Tamil: மன்னார் மாவட்டம், Sinhala: මන්නාරම දිස්ත්‍රික්කය) is one of the 25 administrative districts of Sri Lanka. The district is administered by a District Secretariat headed by a District Secretary (previously known as a Government Agent) appointed by the central government of Sri Lanka.
