A cache of explosives buried by the LTTE sometime during the fighting was recovered by the navy at a location in Vediththatheeva in the Mannar District yesterday, a senior official said today.
The finds included five 60mm mortars, an equal number of anti-personnel mines, two hand grenades and 1600 rounds of live 7.6x39mm ammunition, Navy Spokesperson Kosala Warnakulasuriya said.
He said the discovery was made following information provided by residents in the area.
In a separate incident three Lankan fishermen along with their boat were handed over to the navy by the Indian Coast Guard yesterday afternoon.
The men were handed over at the International Maritime Boundary Line off the Thalaimannar Coast, he said
